Oven-Baked 3-Ingredient Church Supper Chicken
A simple, old-fashioned baked chicken recipe with just three main ingredients. The chicken comes out juicy and tender with beautifully browned, savory skin.
Ingredients
- 4–6 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs or drumsticks
- 1 packet dry onion soup mix
- 1 cup mayonnaise
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Heat to 190°C (375°F). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Make the coating: Mix the mayonnaise and onion soup mix together until well combined.
- Coat the chicken: Pat the chicken dry, then spread the mayonnaise mixture generously over each piece.
- Bake: Arrange the chicken skin-side up in the baking dish. Bake uncovered for 45–55 minutes, or until deeply golden and the thickest part reaches 74°C (165°F).
- Rest: Let the chicken rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.
Serving Ideas
Serve it with classic comfort-food sides such as:
- Mashed potatoes and gravy
- Green beans
- Corn
- Coleslaw
- Dinner rolls
- Mac and cheese
Tip: For extra-crispy skin, broil the chicken for 2–3 minutes at the end, watching carefully so the coating doesn’t burn.
