🍖 Delicious Brown Sugar Chops
Serves: 4
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 15–20 minutes
Ingredients
-
4 pork or lamb chops
-
3 tablespoons brown sugar
-
2 tablespoons soy sauce
-
1 tablespoon olive oil
-
1 tablespoon lemon juice
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 teaspoon paprika
-
½ teaspoon black pepper
-
½ teaspoon salt
-
½ teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
-
1 tablespoon butter
Instructions
-
Make the marinade: Mix brown sugar, soy sauce, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, paprika, black pepper, salt, and chili flakes.
-
Coat the chops: Rub the mixture generously over both sides of the chops. Let them marinate for 20–30 minutes if you have time.
-
Sear: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the butter and place the chops in the pan.
-
Cook for about 4–5 minutes per side, depending on thickness, until nicely browned and cooked through.
-
Caramelize: Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook for another 1–2 minutes, turning the chops so the brown-sugar glaze becomes glossy and caramelized. Watch carefully so the sugar doesn’t burn.
-
Let the chops rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Serving idea
Serve with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a fresh green salad. Spoon any extra caramelized pan juices over the chops.
Tip: For lamb chops, don’t overcook them—the center can remain slightly pink. For pork, use a meat thermometer and cook to 63°C (145°F) internally, followed by a 3-minute rest.
