🥔 Air-Fryer Potato Chips
Ingredients
-
2 medium potatoes
-
1–2 tbsp cooking oil
-
½ tsp salt
-
½ tsp paprika or chili powder (optional)
-
¼ tsp black pepper
-
¼ tsp garlic powder (optional)
Instructions
-
Slice the potatoes: Wash and thinly slice the potatoes, ideally about 1–2 mm thick. A mandoline makes this easier.
-
Soak: Put the slices in cold water for 20–30 minutes to remove excess starch.
-
Dry very well: Drain and pat the potatoes completely dry with a clean towel. This is important for crispiness.
-
Season: Toss the slices with oil, salt, and your chosen spices. Use only a light coating of oil.
-
Preheat: Preheat your air fryer to 180°C (350°F) for about 3 minutes.
-
Air fry: Arrange the potato slices in a single layer. Cook for 10–15 minutes, flipping or shaking every 4–5 minutes.
-
Watch closely: Thin slices can go from golden to burnt quickly. Remove chips as they become golden and crisp.
-
Cool: Let them cool for 2–3 minutes—they’ll become even crispier as they cool.
Tip: Don’t overcrowd the basket. If you have lots of potatoes, cook them in several batches for the crispiest chips.
