🥔 Air-Fryer Potato Chips

Ingredients

  • 2 medium potatoes

  • 1–2 tbsp cooking oil

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp paprika or chili powder (optional)

  • ¼ tsp black pepper

  • ¼ tsp garlic powder (optional)

Instructions

  1. Slice the potatoes: Wash and thinly slice the potatoes, ideally about 1–2 mm thick. A mandoline makes this easier.

  2. Soak: Put the slices in cold water for 20–30 minutes to remove excess starch.

  3. Dry very well: Drain and pat the potatoes completely dry with a clean towel. This is important for crispiness.

  4. Season: Toss the slices with oil, salt, and your chosen spices. Use only a light coating of oil.

  5. Preheat: Preheat your air fryer to 180°C (350°F) for about 3 minutes.

  6. Air fry: Arrange the potato slices in a single layer. Cook for 10–15 minutes, flipping or shaking every 4–5 minutes.

  7. Watch closely: Thin slices can go from golden to burnt quickly. Remove chips as they become golden and crisp.

  8. Cool: Let them cool for 2–3 minutes—they’ll become even crispier as they cool.

Tip: Don’t overcrowd the basket. If you have lots of potatoes, cook them in several batches for the crispiest chips.
