Instructions
- Cook the beef.
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the diced onion and cook for 2–3 minutes until softened. - Add the ground beef.
Add the ground beef and cook for 6–8 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula, until browned and cooked through. - Season.
Add the minced garlic and taco seasoning. Stir and cook for another 30–60 seconds.Stir in the salsa and simmer for 2–3 minutes, allowing the flavors to combine. Season with salt and pepper if needed.
- Warm the tortillas.
Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave for a few seconds. This makes them flexible and easier to roll. - Fill the wraps.
Place a tortilla on a flat surface. Add a generous spoonful of the beef mixture slightly below the center.Sprinkle with shredded cheese and add any desired lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, or jalapeños.
- Fold and roll.
Fold the sides inward, then fold the bottom edge over the filling. Roll tightly upward to form a secure wrap. - Toast the wraps.
Heat a clean skillet over medium heat. Place the wraps seam-side down and cook for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown and the cheese is melted. - Serve.
Cut the wraps in half and serve hot with salsa, sour cream, guacamole, or your favorite dipping sauce.
Air Fryer Method
For extra-crispy wraps:
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Lightly spray the assembled wraps with oil.
- Place them seam-side down in the basket.
- Air fry for 5–7 minutes, turning halfway through.
- Cook until crisp and golden.
Tips for the Best Beef Wraps
- Let excess liquid cook out of the beef mixture so the tortillas don’t become soggy.
- Don’t overfill the tortillas—they’ll be much easier to roll and seal with a moderate amount of filling.
- Toasting seam-side down first helps keep the wraps securely closed.
- Use freshly shredded cheese for the best melting.
- For extra flavor, add a squeeze of lime to the cooked beef before assembling.
