Homemade Blueberry Greek Yogurt Bites

Creamy, tangy Greek yogurt bites bursting with blueberries and coated in a thin, icy shell. They’re an easy high-protein snack or refreshing little treat that you can keep in the freezer for whenever you want something sweet.Makes: 20–24 bites
Prep time: 10 minutes
Freeze time: 3–4 hours
Difficulty: Very easy

Ingredients

Blueberry yogurt mixture

  • 1½ cups (340 g) plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup (150 g) fresh blueberries
  • 2–3 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds, optional
  • Pinch of salt

Optional chocolate coating

  • 1½ cups (255 g) white or dark chocolate
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil

Optional toppings

  • Freeze-dried blueberries, crushed
  • Chopped almonds
  • Coconut flakes
  • Lemon zest
  • A tiny pinch of flaky salt

1. Prepare the blueberries

Wash and dry the blueberries thoroughly.

Place about ¾ cup of the berries in a bowl.

Mash them gently with a fork.

Don’t turn them into a completely smooth puree. Leaving some small pieces gives the bites a more interesting texture.

Keep the remaining blueberries whole.

2. Make the yogurt mixture

Add the Greek yogurt, honey, vanilla, lemon juice, lemon zest, and salt to a bowl.

Stir until smooth.

Add the mashed blueberries and chia seeds if using.

Fold in the whole blueberries.

Taste the mixture.

Add another teaspoon of honey if you’d like it sweeter.

3. Form the bites

Line a baking sheet or large plate with parchment paper.

Using a tablespoon or small cookie scoop, drop portions of the yogurt mixture onto the parchment.

Aim for roughly 1½ tablespoons per bite.

Make them round or slightly flattened.

If the mixture seems too soft to scoop, refrigerate it for 15–20 minutes first.

4. Freeze

Place the tray in the freezer.

Freeze for approximately 3–4 hours, or until the bites are completely firm.

For the easiest handling, freeze them overnight.

At this point, they’re ready to eat as simple frozen yogurt bites.

Chocolate-Coated Blueberry Yogurt Bites

For an extra-special version, coat the frozen bites in chocolate.

5. Melt the chocolate

Place the chocolate and coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl.

Heat in 15–20 second intervals, stirring between each interval.

Continue until smooth.

Don’t overheat the chocolate.

6. Dip the frozen bites

Remove the yogurt bites from the freezer a few at a time.

Dip each frozen bite into the melted chocolate.

Use a fork to lift it out and allow excess chocolate to drip away.

Place it back onto the parchment.

The cold yogurt will cause the chocolate to set almost immediately.

7. Add toppings

Before the chocolate completely hardens, sprinkle with:

  • Crushed freeze-dried blueberries
  • Chopped almonds
  • Coconut
  • Lemon zest

Return the tray to the freezer for 10–15 minutes.

Blueberry Cheesecake Bites

For a cheesecake-inspired version, use:

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 4 oz (115 g) softened cream cheese
  • ¾ cup blueberries
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup crushed graham crackers

Mix the cream cheese and yogurt until smooth.

Add the remaining ingredients.

Spoon onto the parchment and freeze.

The cream cheese makes the bites richer and gives them a more authentic cheesecake flavor.

High-Protein Version

Use:

  • 2 cups Greek yogurt
  • ½ cup cottage cheese, blended completely smooth
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 1–2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

If the mixture becomes too thick, add 1–2 tablespoons milk.

This version is especially good for a filling post-workout or afternoon snack.

Blueberry Lemon Version

For a brighter flavor, increase the lemon zest to 2 teaspoons.

Add an additional ½ teaspoon lemon juice.

The combination of tart blueberries and fresh lemon makes these taste almost like little frozen blueberry cheesecakes.

Coconut Blueberry Bites

Fold ¼ cup unsweetened shredded coconut into the yogurt mixture.

After dipping in white chocolate, sprinkle more coconut over the top.

The blueberry-coconut combination is especially good with white chocolate.

Storage

Once frozen solid, transfer the bites to an airtight freezer-safe container or freezer bag.

Place parchment between layers if they’re chocolate-coated.

They will keep for approximately 1 month for the best flavor and texture.

Let them sit at room temperature for 3–5 minutes before eating if you prefer a softer, creamier center.

Best Tip

Use thick Greek yogurt and dry blueberries.

If the yogurt is very thin, the bites will take longer to freeze and may become icy. Pat the blueberries dry after washing them so you don’t introduce unnecessary water.

For the creamiest result, full-fat Greek yogurt works particularly well.
