Chocolate Banana Cream Pie
Ingredients
For the Crust
- 1 prepared 9-inch chocolate cookie crust
- 2 tablespoons melted butter, if using homemade cookie crumbs
For the Filling
- 2 ripe bananas, sliced
- 1 package (3.4 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix
- 2 cups cold milk
- 1 cup whipped topping
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chocolate shavings, optional
Instructions
- Prepare the crust: Place the chocolate cookie crust in a pie dish if making your own. Chill it for about 15 minutes.
- Make the pudding: Whisk the chocolate pudding mix with the cold milk for about 2 minutes, until thickened.
- Layer the bananas: Arrange the banana slices evenly over the bottom of the crust.
- Add the chocolate filling: Spoon the chocolate pudding over the bananas and spread it into an even layer.
- Add the topping: Spread whipped topping over the pudding. Sprinkle with chocolate chips or chocolate shavings if desired.
- Chill: Refrigerate the pie for at least 3–4 hours, or until completely set.
- Serve: Slice chilled and serve. Keep leftovers refrigerated.
Tip: For the best texture, use bananas that are ripe but still firm. Very soft bananas can become watery after sitting in the pie.
