Turkey & Cheese Roll-Ups
Easy, creamy, protein-packed turkey and cheese roll-ups that make a great quick lunch, snack, appetizer, or party tray. They require no cooking and can be customized with vegetables, spreads, and different cheeses.Makes: 12 roll-ups
Prep time: 10 minutes
Chill time: 20 minutes
Total time: About 30 minutes
Ingredients
- 12 slices deli turkey
- 6 slices cheddar, Swiss, provolone, or mozzarella cheese
- 4 oz (115 g) cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons plain Greek yogurt
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped green onions
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh spinach
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley, optional
Instructions
1. Make the creamy spread
In a small bowl, combine:
- Softened cream cheese
- Greek yogurt
- Dijon mustard
- Garlic powder
- Black pepper
- Green onions
- Parsley
Mix until smooth.
2. Prepare the turkey
Lay the turkey slices flat on a clean cutting board.
If they’re very wet, gently pat them dry with paper towels.
This helps prevent the roll-ups from becoming soggy.
3. Add the spread
Spread a thin, even layer of the cream cheese mixture over each turkey slice.
Don’t spread all the way to the edges—leave about ½ inch uncovered.
4. Add cheese
Place half a slice of cheese on each turkey slice.
For smaller roll-ups, cut the cheese into strips rather than using a whole slice.
Add a few thin spinach leaves if desired.
5. Roll tightly
Starting at one end, roll the turkey tightly around the filling.
Keep the roll compact but don’t squeeze so hard that the filling comes out.
6. Chill
Place the roll-ups seam-side down on a plate.
Cover and refrigerate for 20–30 minutes.
This helps them firm up and makes them easier to cut.
7. Slice
Using a sharp knife, cut each roll into 2 pieces.
For appetizer-sized bites, cut each into 3 pieces.
Arrange on a serving platter.
Ranch Turkey Roll-Ups
Mix 1 teaspoon ranch seasoning into the cream cheese mixture.
Add shredded cheddar and finely chopped green onions.
For extra crunch, add thin strips of cucumber.
Turkey Avocado Roll-Ups
Spread mashed avocado over the turkey.
Add:
- Provolone cheese
- Thin cucumber strips
- Spinach
- A squeeze of lime
Roll tightly and chill before slicing.
Cranberry Turkey Roll-Ups
For a sweet-and-savory version, add:
- 2 tablespoons dried cranberries
- 2 tablespoons chopped pecans
- Cream cheese
- Swiss cheese
The combination tastes similar to a turkey-cranberry sandwich.
Spicy Turkey Roll-Ups
Add 1–2 tablespoons finely chopped jalapeños to the cream cheese.
Use pepper jack cheese.
You can also add a little hot sauce or crushed red pepper.
Pickle Turkey Roll-Ups
Spread the turkey with cream cheese.
Place a thin pickle spear along one edge.
Roll tightly around the pickle.
Chill and slice into bite-sized pieces.
This is one of the easiest versions and has a great salty, crunchy texture.
Low-Carb Turkey Roll-Ups
The basic recipe is already low in carbohydrates.
For an even simpler version, use:
- Turkey slices
- Cheese
- Cream cheese
- Spinach
- Cucumber
- Mustard
Skip sweet sauces and dried fruit.
Make-Ahead Instructions
You can prepare the roll-ups up to 24 hours ahead.
Keep them tightly covered and refrigerated.
For the best texture, add watery vegetables such as cucumber immediately before serving.
Storage
Keep refrigerated in an airtight container and use within 3–4 days, depending on the freshness and storage time of the deli turkey.
Best combination
For a particularly tasty version, use turkey + cream cheese + cheddar + spinach + green onion + Dijon + a little black pepper. Chill the rolls before slicing so they stay neat and firm.
