Two Fruits That Regenerate Collagen in the Knees

Two Fruits That Support Collagen Production in the Knees

No fruit has been proven to regenerate lost cartilage or rebuild knee collagen by itself. However, certain fruits provide nutrients involved in collagen formation and may support overall connective-tissue and joint health as part of a balanced diet.

1. Oranges and Other Citrus Fruits

Oranges, lemons, grapefruit, and other citrus fruits are rich in vitamin C. Vitamin C is essential for the body to produce collagen, which is an important structural protein found in connective tissues.

Adding whole citrus fruit to your diet can help you obtain vitamin C along with fiber and other nutrients. Whole fruit is generally preferable to juice because it contains more fiber and is less concentrated in sugar.

2. Kiwi

Kiwi is another excellent source of vitamin C. The nutrient helps support normal collagen formation and also contributes to normal immune function.

You can eat kiwi on its own, add it to oatmeal or yogurt, or combine it with other fruits for a nutrient-rich snack.

Supporting Your Knees Beyond Fruit

Healthy joints require more than one nutrient. Adequate protein, vitamin D, calcium, and other nutrients are important for overall musculoskeletal health. Regular, appropriate physical activity—particularly exercises that strengthen the muscles around the knee—can also support joint function.

If you have persistent knee pain, swelling, stiffness, or difficulty walking, it’s worth getting the cause evaluated. Diet can support overall joint health, but it cannot reliably regenerate damaged knee cartilage or reverse arthritis.
