Red Alert: Strong Hail Just Hit S-Town
Strong thunderstorms can produce hail, powerful wind gusts, lightning, and sudden heavy rain. If hail is occurring in your area, move indoors and stay away from windows until the storm has passed.
What to Do During Hail
- Stay inside a sturdy building.
- Keep away from windows and glass doors.
- Avoid standing outdoors to watch the storm.
- Bring pets indoors if it is safe to do so.
- Do not shelter under trees during thunderstorms.
- If driving, slow down and pull into a safe covered location when possible.
After the Storm
Wait until the storm has clearly passed before going outside. Watch for broken glass, fallen branches, damaged roofs, standing water, and downed electrical wires. Do not approach fallen power lines.
