Brown Gravy Egg Noodle Bake
Ingredients
-
12 oz (340 g) egg noodles
-
1 packet brown gravy mix
-
2 cups beef broth
-
1 cup sour cream
-
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
-
2 tablespoons butter
-
½ teaspoon black pepper
-
½ teaspoon garlic powder
-
½ teaspoon onion powder
Instructions
1. Prepare the Oven
Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F).
Lightly grease a 9 × 13-inch baking dish.
2. Cook the Noodles
Cook the egg noodles according to the package directions until just tender.
Drain well and set aside.
3. Make the Gravy Mixture
In a bowl, whisk together the brown gravy mix and beef broth until smooth.
Stir in the sour cream, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
4. Assemble the Bake
Place the cooked egg noodles in the prepared baking dish.
Pour the gravy mixture evenly over the noodles.
Add the butter in small pieces across the top.
Gently toss or stir so the noodles are coated with the gravy.
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
5. Bake
Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes.
Remove the foil and bake for another 10–15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbling.
6. Rest and Serve
Let the casserole rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.
Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
Optional Additions
For a heartier meal, add:
-
Cooked ground beef
-
Shredded rotisserie chicken
-
Sautéed mushrooms
-
Caramelized onions
-
Frozen peas
Tips
-
Don’t overcook the noodles before baking; they will continue cooking in the oven.
-
Use low-sodium broth if your gravy mix is salty.
-
For extra creaminess, add another ¼ cup of sour cream.
-
If the casserole seems dry before baking, add a little extra broth.
Storage
Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for 3–4 days. Reheat gently with a splash of broth to keep the noodles moist.
