Blueberry Greek Yogurt Bites
These Blueberry Greek Yogurt Bites are creamy, fruity, lightly sweet, and incredibly easy to make. They have a refreshing yogurt center with bursts of blueberry and can be made as frozen bite-size treats or chilled for a softer texture.Yield: 18–24 bites
Prep time: 15 minutes
Freezing time: 3–4 hours
Total: About 4 hoursIngredients
For the Yogurt Mixture
- 1½ cups (360 g) full-fat Greek yogurt
- 2–3 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup (75–80 g) fresh blueberries
- 2 tablespoons powdered milk, optional, for a thicker and creamier texture
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice, optional, for a fresh tangy flavor
Optional Chocolate Coating
- 150 g white, milk, or dark chocolate
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil
- ¼ cup crushed almonds, pistachios, or coconut, optional
🫐 Step 1: Prepare the Blueberries
Wash the blueberries thoroughly under cool running water.
Drain them well and gently pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towel.
You don’t want excess water because it can make the yogurt mixture icy when frozen.
If the blueberries are particularly large, cut them in half.
Set aside.
🥣 Step 2: Make the Greek Yogurt Mixture
Place the Greek yogurt in a medium-sized bowl.
Add:
- honey or maple syrup;
- vanilla extract;
- lemon juice, if using;
- powdered milk, if using.
Stir everything together until smooth and creamy.
Taste the mixture.
If you’d like sweeter bites, add another teaspoon of honey or maple syrup.
Tip
Full-fat Greek yogurt gives these bites a much creamier texture.
Low-fat yogurt can be used, but the frozen bites will generally be firmer and icier.
🫐 Step 3: Add the Blueberries
Add the blueberries to the yogurt.
Fold them gently with a spatula.
Don’t aggressively stir them because you want some whole blueberry pieces to remain visible.
If you gently crush 2–3 blueberries while folding, you’ll get beautiful purple streaks throughout the yogurt.
❄️ Step 4: Prepare Your Tray
Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
You can also use a silicone mini-muffin mold or small silicone candy mold.
A silicone mold makes beautifully uniform bites and makes them easier to remove once frozen.
🥄 Step 5: Portion the Bites
There are two easy methods.
Method A — Spoon-Drop Bites
Scoop approximately 1 tablespoon of the yogurt mixture onto the parchment.
Make small round mounds.
Leave a little space between each one.
Method B — Silicone Mold
Spoon the mixture into the cavities of the mold.
Fill each cavity about ¾ full.
Gently tap the mold against the counter to remove large air pockets.
🧊 Step 6: Freeze
Place the tray in the freezer.
Freeze for approximately 3–4 hours, or until the bites are completely firm.
For the best texture, leave them uncovered for the first hour and then transfer them to an airtight container once solid.
🍫 Optional Chocolate-Coated Version
For an extra indulgent treat, coat the frozen yogurt bites in chocolate.
Make the Chocolate
Melt:
- 150 g chocolate
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil.
You can melt it in a microwave in short intervals, stirring between each interval, or melt it gently over a double boiler.
Allow the chocolate to cool slightly.
It should still be fluid but shouldn’t be extremely hot.
🍫 Step 7: Dip the Frozen Bites
Remove the frozen yogurt bites from the freezer.
Working quickly, dip each bite into the melted chocolate.
Use two forks to lift it out.
Place it back onto parchment paper.
Immediately sprinkle with:
- chopped pistachios;
- crushed almonds;
- shredded coconut;
- freeze-dried blueberries; or
- a few tiny blueberry pieces.
The cold yogurt will cause the chocolate to set quickly.
Return the bites to the freezer for another 10–15 minutes.
💜 Blueberry Swirl Version
If you want a stronger blueberry flavor, make a quick blueberry sauce.
Ingredients
- ½ cup blueberries
- 1 tablespoon sugar or honey
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
Place everything in a small saucepan.
Cook over medium-low heat for approximately 4–6 minutes, stirring occasionally.
The blueberries will soften and release their juice.
Mash them lightly.
Continue cooking until you have a thick, jam-like mixture.
Cool completely.
Swirl 1–2 tablespoons into the Greek yogurt mixture rather than fully mixing it.
This creates beautiful purple-blue streaks throughout the bites.
🍯 Less-Sweet Version
If you’re making these for a naturally lighter snack, reduce the honey to 1 tablespoon.
The blueberries provide natural sweetness, while Greek yogurt gives the bites their creamy, tangy flavor.
You can also add:
- cinnamon;
- lemon zest;
- orange zest; or
- a little extra vanilla.
🥜 Blueberry Almond Bites
For a more substantial snack, add:
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped almonds
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 1 tablespoon shredded coconut.
Fold these into the yogurt before freezing.
The result is slightly more textured and satisfying.
🍓 Blueberry & Strawberry Version
Replace half of the blueberries with finely diced strawberries.
Use:
- ¼ cup blueberries
- ¼ cup strawberries.
Make sure the strawberries are thoroughly dried before adding them.
This gives you a lovely berry-and-cream flavor.
🍋 Lemon Blueberry Version
For a bright, fresh flavor, add:
- 1 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice.
The lemon works especially well with the tanginess of Greek yogurt and the sweetness of blueberries.
⭐ Tips for Perfect Yogurt Bites
- Use thick Greek yogurt. Regular yogurt contains more water and can become icy.
- Dry the blueberries thoroughly. Excess moisture creates ice crystals.
- Don’t make the bites too large. Small bites freeze more evenly.
- Use silicone molds if you want perfectly shaped treats.
- Taste the yogurt before freezing. Cold temperatures reduce the perception of sweetness, so the mixture should taste slightly sweeter than you want the final frozen bites.
- Freeze until completely firm before attempting to coat them in chocolate.
- Store them in an airtight freezer container to prevent freezer burn.
🧊 Storage
Once completely frozen, transfer the bites to an airtight freezer-safe container.
Place parchment paper between layers if they have a chocolate coating.
They are best enjoyed within approximately 2–3 weeks for the freshest flavor and texture.
Take a bite out of the freezer and let it sit for 2–5 minutes before eating if you prefer a softer, creamier center.
Final texture
The finished bites should have a creamy, slightly tangy Greek-yogurt center, juicy blueberry flavor, and a refreshing frozen texture. With the optional chocolate shell, you get a delicious contrast between crisp chocolate and cold creamy blueberry yogurt.
