High-Protein Chocolate Frosty

Prep time: 5 minutes
Freeze time: 20–30 minutes, optional
Total time: About 10–35 minutes
Servings: 2

This creamy high-protein chocolate Frosty is thick, cold, and intensely chocolatey without needing ice cream. Greek yogurt and protein powder provide the protein, while frozen banana and ice create the thick, spoonable texture.

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups (340 g) plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 scoop (25–30 g) chocolate protein powder
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 frozen banana, sliced
  • ½ cup (120 ml) unsweetened milk
  • 1–2 tbsp maple syrup or honey, optional
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1–1½ cups ice cubes

Optional extras

  • 1 tbsp peanut butter
  • 1 tbsp almond butter
  • 1 tbsp mini dark chocolate chips
  • ½ tsp instant espresso powder
  • Sugar-free chocolate syrup
  • Whipped cream, for serving

Instructions

1. Add the ingredients

Place the Greek yogurt, chocolate protein powder, cocoa powder, frozen banana, milk, vanilla, and salt into a high-powered blender.

Start with ½ cup of milk.

Don’t add all the ice yet.

2. Blend until smooth

Blend on high for approximately 30–60 seconds.

Stop and scrape down the sides if necessary.

The mixture will be very thick.

If your blender struggles, add another tablespoon or two of milk rather than a large amount at once.

3. Add the ice

Add 1 cup of ice.

Blend again until completely smooth and thick.

Add another ½ cup of ice if you want a thicker, more Frosty-like consistency.

The finished mixture should be thick enough to eat with a spoon but still smooth enough to blend.

4. Taste and adjust

Taste the Frosty.

If you want it sweeter, add a little maple syrup or honey.

For a deeper chocolate flavor, add another teaspoon of cocoa powder.

If the chocolate tastes slightly bitter, a tiny pinch of salt can balance it.

Make It Extra Thick

For a particularly thick, spoonable Frosty, use:

  • Frozen Greek yogurt instead of refrigerated yogurt
  • A frozen banana
  • Less milk
  • Plenty of ice

You can also place the blended Frosty in the freezer for 20–30 minutes, stirring once halfway through.

Don’t leave it frozen for several hours without stirring—the texture can become hard rather than creamy.

Double-Chocolate Version

For an especially rich chocolate flavor, add:

  • 1 tbsp chocolate peanut butter
  • 1 tbsp mini dark chocolate chips
  • ½ tsp instant espresso powder

Blend the peanut butter and espresso powder into the Frosty, then fold in the chocolate chips at the end.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Frosty

Add 1–2 tablespoons peanut butter to the blender.

For more sweetness, add a small amount of honey or your preferred sweetener.

Top with a teaspoon of peanut butter warmed slightly and drizzled over the surface.

Lower-Sugar Version

For a lower-sugar version, use:

  • Unsweetened Greek yogurt
  • Unsweetened almond or other low-sugar milk
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • A low-sugar or unsweetened chocolate protein powder
  • Frozen cauliflower instead of banana

If using frozen cauliflower, start with ½ cup and add more if desired. The cocoa and protein powder help mask its flavor.

High-Protein Toppings

Top each serving with:

  • Greek yogurt
  • Cocoa powder
  • A few dark chocolate shavings
  • Chopped nuts
  • Peanut butter drizzle
  • Fresh berries
  • Unsweetened coconut

Keep toppings modest if you’re trying to maintain a high-protein, lower-calorie snack.

Storage

This Frosty is best served immediately.

If you need to store it, refrigerate for up to 24 hours. It will become thinner as the ice melts.

For a thicker texture, briefly blend it again with a handful of ice before serving.

Quick Formula

Greek yogurt + chocolate protein powder + cocoa + frozen banana + milk + ice = thick, creamy chocolate Frosty.

For the richest result, use full-fat Greek yogurt, a good chocolate protein powder, plenty of cocoa, and a frozen banana, then blend until completely silky.
