Cheesy Ground Beef Garlic Toasts

Crispy garlic toast topped with savory seasoned ground beef and melted, gooey cheese—an easy appetizer, snack, or quick dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread or baguette

  • 450 g (1 lb) ground beef

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 3–4 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 tablespoon butter

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning

  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley or coriander

For the Garlic Butter

  • 3 tablespoons softened butter

  • 2 garlic cloves, finely minced

  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley

  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

1. Prepare the Beef

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onion and cook for 2–3 minutes until softened.

Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and fully cooked.

Stir in the garlic, paprika, black pepper, salt, Italian seasoning, and tomato paste. Cook for another 1–2 minutes, then remove from the heat.

2. Make the Garlic Butter

Mix the softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, and a pinch of salt until well combined.

3. Prepare the Toasts

Slice the baguette diagonally or cut the French bread into thick slices. Spread each piece generously with garlic butter.

Arrange the slices on a baking tray.

4. Add the Toppings

Spoon the seasoned ground beef over each slice. Sprinkle generously with mozzarella and cheddar.

5. Bake

Bake at 200°C (400°F) for about 8–12 minutes, until the bread is crisp and the cheese is completely melted.

For a beautifully browned cheese topping, switch to the broiler/grill for the final 1–2 minutes, watching carefully.

6. Finish and Serve

Sprinkle with fresh parsley or coriander and serve immediately while the cheese is hot and stretchy.

Extra-Crispy Tip

For especially crunchy toast, pre-bake the garlic-buttered bread for 3–4 minutes before adding the beef and cheese. Then return it to the oven until the cheese melts and turns golden.

You can also add jalapeños, red pepper flakes, mushrooms, caramelized onions, or a drizzle of hot sauce for extra flavor.
