4-Ingredient Baked Bean Ground Beef Casserole
This is an easy, hearty dinner made by combining raw ground beef, canned baked beans, and just three other ingredients. Everything cooks together into a flavorful, comforting casserole.
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450 g) raw ground beef
- 1 can (28 oz / 800 g) baked beans
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup barbecue sauce
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare the beef: Spread the raw ground beef evenly in the bottom of a lightly greased baking dish. Break it into small pieces so it cooks evenly.
- Add the onion: Sprinkle the diced onion over the beef.
- Add the beans: Pour the baked beans evenly over the raw beef and onion.
- Add barbecue sauce: Drizzle the barbecue sauce over the top.
- Bake: Cover the dish tightly with foil and bake for about 35–45 minutes, or until the ground beef is fully cooked.
- Check the beef: Ground beef should reach 160°F (71°C) in the center. Break up any remaining large pieces and stir the casserole carefully.
- Add cheese: Sprinkle the cheddar over the top and return the uncovered dish to the oven for about 5–10 minutes, until the cheese is melted.
- Rest and serve: Let it sit for a few minutes before serving.
Helpful Tip
Because the beef starts raw, don’t rely only on cooking time. Check the thickest parts with a food thermometer to make sure the beef reaches 160°F (71°C).
Serve it with warm bread, cornbread, or a simple green salad for an easy family meal.
