2-Ingredient Pineapple Dessert Bars
Ingredients
-
1 box (15–18 oz / 425–510 g) yellow cake mix
-
1 can (20 oz / 567 g) crushed pineapple with its juice
Instructions
1. Prepare the Oven
Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F).
Lightly grease a 9 × 13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
2. Mix the Ingredients
Pour the dry cake mix into a large bowl.
Add the entire can of crushed pineapple, including the juice.
Stir gently until the ingredients are just combined and there are no large pockets of dry cake mix.
Do not overmix.
3. Spread the Batter
Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan.
Spread it evenly with a spatula.
The batter will be thick and somewhat sticky—that’s normal.
4. Bake
Bake for approximately 25–35 minutes, or until the top is lightly golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean.
5. Cool
Allow the dessert to cool completely in the pan before cutting it into bars.
The bars will become firmer as they cool.
Optional Serving Ideas
Although the recipe needs only two ingredients, you can serve the finished bars with:
-
A dusting of powdered sugar
-
Whipped cream
-
Vanilla ice cream
-
Toasted coconut
-
A little cream-cheese frosting
Tips
-
Use crushed pineapple, not pineapple chunks, so the mixture spreads evenly.
-
Don’t drain the pineapple—the juice provides the moisture needed for the cake mix.
-
For cleaner slices, allow the bars to cool completely before cutting.
-
If you prefer softer, gooier bars, remove them from the oven as soon as the center is set.
Storage
Store the cooled bars in an airtight container at room temperature for 1–2 days, or refrigerate for up to 4 days.
For the best texture, let refrigerated bars sit at room temperature for a few minutes before serving.
