Paula Deen’s Easy 5-Minute Fudge

A rich, creamy chocolate fudge that comes together quickly with just a handful of ingredients. It’s an easy treat for holidays, parties, or whenever you want homemade fudge without a complicated process.

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups granulated sugar
  • ⅔ cup evaporated milk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 jar (7 oz) marshmallow crème
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts, optional

Instructions

1. Prepare the Pan

Line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it with butter. Leave some parchment hanging over the sides so the fudge is easy to lift out later.

2. Make the Sugar Mixture

Add the sugar, evaporated milk, butter, and salt to a medium saucepan.

Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture reaches a full boil. Once it begins boiling, continue cooking for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently.

3. Add the Chocolate

Remove the saucepan from the heat. Immediately stir in the chocolate chips and marshmallow crème.

Keep stirring until everything is completely melted and the mixture becomes smooth and glossy.

4. Add Vanilla and Nuts

Stir in the vanilla extract. If using nuts, fold them in now.

5. Pour and Set

Pour the hot fudge mixture into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.

Let it cool at room temperature until firm, or refrigerate for about 1–2 hours to speed up the process.

6. Cut and Serve

Lift the chilled fudge from the pan using the parchment paper. Cut into small squares and serve.

Tips

  • Stir constantly while the sugar mixture is boiling to prevent scorching.
  • Don’t overcook it, or the finished fudge can become dry or crumbly.
  • For extra richness, use good-quality chocolate chips.
  • Store the fudge in an airtight container at room temperature for several days or refrigerate for longer storage.
